My Fireplace Makeover!

Hi everyone!  I hope y’all are having a wonderful Sunday evening.  We made hamburgers at my in-laws’ home.  It is so nice to spend time with family. :) I will be linking this post to Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch for Met Monday

Met Monday

and Kimba @ http://asoftplace.net/ for Tuesday.

kimbaDIY125I hope I am not breaking any blogger rules by linking on two different days.  *blush*

I am so excited to show you all my fireplace!  This is what it looked like before……http://mybellarose.blogspot.com/2009/09/say-cheese.html  It used to be red!

Drum roll please!!!  This is what it looks like now!  As you can see, I still need to finish the bottom part.  That won’t take but a few minutes.  IMG_4848

I used a color for the base called Wilmington Tan from Behr.  I also bought a pint of paint called Fudge Truffle from Behr as well and a glaze in Mocha.  I painted the fireplace in Wilmington Tan first.  I then got my sponge and applied Fudge Truffle.  I also used the Mocha glaze in between each brick.  I used the sponge and a rag to blend the two darker colors.  It gave me a shaded effect.  Can you see the shaded effect?IMG_4843

The pictures I placed above the mantle used to have gold frames. IMG_4814

I spray painted the frames in one of my favorite color…..Oil Rubbed Bronze. :)  I love that color!  IMG_4840

The finials used to be white but I spray painted them in more of an ivory color.   I also spray painted the candle holders in the Oil Rubbed Bronze.  Love it!  They used to be brass!IMG_4861

The fireplace area used to be brassy and ugly looking.  I painted it satin black.  IMG_4822

I changed out the table runner.  As you can see the runner is now a zebra print.  Love it!  I had my zebra print runner in another area but thought it would look better here.  :)  Isn’t it awesome when you can just shop in your own house? hee hee!

As soon as I finish my living room, I’ll make sure and post pictures for my blogger friends. :)  I promise. :)

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! As always, have a wonderful day full of love and happiness. :)

Wow! I am so impressed! I don't think I could tackle a fireplace. Mine is made out of California ledgestone and would be very difficult to do. But I do like the oil rubbed bronze. Everyone uses it. Can you tell me what brand to buy? Can you get it in a regular paint instead of spray? I need to use it on some things and don't know where to get it.

They say you can make the most difference with the least money with paint. And you've shown that to be true. That and a little elbow grease!

Hi Girlfriend...

Ohhh...how funny! That we both posted about our fireplaces for Met Monday! Girl, I just love what you've done with your fireplace...I love the color and all the soft subtle shading...it's simply gorgeous! I've seen so many people do a "sponge" effect on their brick when painting and well...just let me say that the way you did yours is soooo much prettier...just perfect! Did it take you very long to do?

I love that you painted the frames on the art..black! Beautiful!!! I love the black against this pretty creamy color! Ohhh...and adding the zebra runner to the hearth...fabulous!!! Girl, you did GOOD!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful fireplace redo with us today! Also want to say thank you for coming by and taking a peek at mine...I really enjoyed your sweet note!

Warmest wishes,
Chari

Oh Sandra!
I so love this fireplace makeover. It is just gorgeous. I love the paint color that you chose to paint the bricks. It is so homey and inviting. (It says come in.)
And with the white mantel I really love it. Can't wait to see how you decorate it for Christmas with its new face lifet. Job well done.
Outstanding.

Stop by soon. Country hugs, Sherry
