Joining the “Oil Rubbed Bronze” fan club!

Hello my friends!  Oh wow.  Two posts in one day.  Well it’s because I’m sooo excited!  I have been pondering as to how to paint my fireplace.  Currently it is brass….very outdated.  See this picture?  This is what I’m  talking about.

IMG_3906

I’m also going to paint the picture frame that is above the mantle in a brownish color….maybe the same color….Oil Rubbed Bronze.  Oh I’m sooo excited!

IMG_3952

What do you think?  Has anyone painted anything with the color Oil rubbed Bronze?

I’m off to Wal-mart and hopefully find the paint!

I’m Transitioning Into Fall!

At least inside my home. :)  Hello friends.  How is everyone doing?  Well I’m really looking forward to fall…cooler weather, love it!  It’s still a ways from getting cooler here in Texas but I sure am looking forward to it!

Question:  Do the candles look awkward on the end?  Should I put them before the pears or should I just take them off?

Hmm?  After seeing these photos, I think I’m going to paint the picture frame. You see the picture above the mantel?  I think a bronze or like the color surrounding the picture itself, kwim?  It is more of an espresso color.  What do you think?IMG_3936

I finally distressed these and I love how they look now!IMG_3950

Fall will be here before you know it! What kind of weather do you have in the fall?  Our weather turns into a tad cooler nights and mornings and sunshine during the day.  We do have more warm days than cool days though.  IMG_3915

My entrance hallway is not completely decked out for the fall yet.  What a change these fall colors make though!IMG_3918

I took some of the flowers off from a fall spray and just put them inside my apothecary jar.  Love it! IMG_3919

These are two sprays and I placed them next to the apothecary jar.  My fall sprays and the rest of the fall decor came from Hobby Lobby.   I don’t remember seeing these sprays last year there?  So pretty! I love the colors!IMG_3921

I need to head into the garage and look for all of my fall decors!  Wish me luck, y’all!  I might get lost in all of my hubby’s things!

Happy Thursday!

Outdoor Wednesday

Welcome to Outdoor Wednesday!   Please visit our lovely hostess Susan over at A Southern Daydreamer.

Hello everyone!  It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  I have been busy with the kiddos going back to school.

Here are some random pictures I took outside of my (med student) son’s housing.  I love all the different plants, flowers, and trees around there.   I hope no one minds that I can’t name them.  I just have no idea, except maybe the last picture.  :)  *blush*

A Good Read……..

Hi everyone!  I hope my blogger friends are all doing well and feeling full of energy!  Are some of you feeling like you have no energy?  Feeling a little drab?  Drained?  Well have I got something for you!  I have recently started taking apple cider vinegar with water and honey and let me tell you, I feel wonderful!  I had bought this book a long time ago,

IMG_3902

and in the midst of cleaning my closet, I found it again!  So I started reading it and went to a health food store to buy “Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar”IMG_3899

Don’t buy the apple cider vinegar (ACV) that is sold at supermarkets.  That one has been filtered and is no good for you.  You need to buy one that is unfiltered.

Here is a link that you might want to visit.  http://www.bragg.com/

I read in the book to add 2 teaspoons of the ACV with 2 teaspoons of raw honey IMG_3900

in a glass of distilled water.  I add about 12 ounces of water.  Stir it all and then sip it slowly.  You can do this first thing in the morning.  Apples are rich in potassium & enzymes.  With the unfiltered apple cider vinegar, you get the potassium.

Oops, I accidentally spilled some of my drink on my mat.  Oopsie! IMG_3898

You wonder what it tastes like?  I really like it!  I  don’t think it’s tart at all.  I hope you guys don’t think I’m crazy, hee, hee!

I thought it was worth a try and I’m glad I did!  I hope you all look into it and try it too!

Blessings,

Sandra

We Are Back!

Hello to all my blogger friends!  We are back from moving our oldest son to Houston!  I have missed all of my blogger friends!!!

I gotta tell you that it’s tough.  Mama has been shedding rivers of tears.  I miss my boy and it has only been a couple of days.  It’s so hard.  I have to keep busy or I will go into this stage of sadness.  I’m sure that every mama who has moved their child to another city because they are going into a new chapter in their life, totally understand where I’m coming from.

We attended his “White Coat Ceremony” last Wednesday and I have to tell you that it was fantastic!  We are extremely proud of him!  This is where the ceremony took place.  This is the concert hall at Rice University.

IMG_3821

And this is the inside.  It is beeeaauuutiful!  The entering class is seated up at the front on the balcony and they also had to sit at the bottom at the front there.  It is a huge class!

The ceremony is very symbolic and no one is allowed to take pictures during the ceremony.   We were allowed to take pictures before and after the ceremony.

Each student is called and then the doctors at the front of the stage put the coat on each student.  After each student has their white coat on, they proceed to sign the book of hippocratic oath.  The ceremony was all videotaped and we will have a chance to buy it!

And here is my son after the ceremony!  Woohoo!!!  We are proud of you son!!!

I hope everyone is doing great and I can’t wait to catch up on what everyone I follow has been up too!!!

Blessings,

Sandra

WILDSEED FARMS

Outdoor_Wednesday_logo

It’s Outdoor Wednesday.  Please visit the lovely Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ for more “Outdoor Wednesday” participants.

On our way back from Houston, we decided to visit Fredericksburg, Tx.  Fredericksburg is a little tourist town and we love spending time there.  We went to Wildseed Farms, a nursery right outside of Fredericksburg. http://www.wildseedfarms.com/ OMGosh!  It has acres and acres of flowers!   I almost jumped the fence to try to get closer!  JK.  Anyway, this is the entrance to a part of the nursery.  IMG_3751

I love all the different types of plants they have!IMG_3741

Some Crape Myrtles.IMG_3742

More Crape Myrtles!  I bought two of them for my yard!IMG_3743

I’d love to have rocks like these in my yard! IMG_3744

Another rock.IMG_3745

And yet another rock. :)IMG_3746

This is right outside to the entrance of the building. :)  Pretty!IMG_3747

And on to the acres of flowers!  There were tons of sunflowers!IMG_3754

A little bit more close to the sunflowers. :)IMG_3756

See what I mean?  Tons of flowers!IMG_3757

Such pretties!IMG_3758

More.  I would have liked to have gotten closer but there is a fence that keeps people from getting too close to the flowers. IMG_3764

I hope you all enjoyed the little tour of Wildseed Farms  If you are ever in the area of Fredericksburg, Tx, make sure to stop by this nursery. :)

Happy OW!

We Are Back From Houston!

First of all, I’d like to thank all of you that responded to my private mama moment post.  I really appreciate all the kind words you all left for me.   Thank you, thank you! :)

We made a trip to Houston to  get our son ready for med school.  He signed his lease for housing too.  I’m soooo glad he will be able to stay at the housing for med students!  It is secured with a guard at the front of the entrance so not just anyone can go in.  I feel much more content! Whew!  We bought a bed and some of the necessities he’ll need.  Oh! Have any of you all gone to Garden Ridge?  A store?  They have just about everything there! LOL  We don’t have that store in my area so I had tons of fun in there.  hee hee!

I could not believe how many crepe myrtles there are in that area!  Tons and tons everywhere!!!  I took many pictures.  I’m soooo glad to be home though.  I just wanted to say hi to my fellow bloggers and I missed everyone.  I missed reading everyone’s posts.  Oh gosh, time to do laundry and get my house back in order.  I am looking forward to catching up on what everyone has been up to.  :)
